Welcome to Public Sector Learning

Public Sector Learning is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, equipping, and empowering those who serve the public good. We are the parent organization of the Public Funds Academy, and we proudly champion a vital cause: helping underrepresented individuals, small businesses, and public institutions thrive in the complex world of public finance.

At the heart of our mission is CLEAR—Contracting Literacy, Education, Access, and Resources—a framework we use to ensure equitable access to critical knowledge. Our work empowers people to understand and successfully engage in government procurement, public contracting, and grant opportunities at the local, county, state, and federal levels.

We believe that financial transparency and competency in the public sector are not just administrative tasks—they are justice issues. Every public dollar has the potential to build stronger communities, fund essential programs, and elevate lives. But to unlock that potential, people must first be informed, prepared, and supported.

Why Public Sector Learning Exists

Across every level of government and nonprofit work, thousands of individuals are tasked with managing public funds or navigating public procurement—often with little to no formal training in how to do so. Whether it’s a local official evaluating bids, a nonprofit leader administering a federal grant, or a small business trying to break into public contracting, the stakes are high and the guidance is minimal.

This lack of contracting literacy leads to missed opportunities, costly mistakes, noncompliance, and in some cases, disqualification or audit findings. Even worse, it disproportionately affects underrepresented communities, minority-owned businesses, and small organizations that can’t afford to hire experts or attend elite trainings.

Public Sector Learning exists to close this gap. We meet people where they are, delivering practical, accessible, and ethical education that helps them succeed, regardless of their starting point.

How We Make an Impact

Our nonprofit is best known through the Public Funds Academy, our educational platform that delivers crash courses, certifications, and ongoing training in key areas of public fund management.

We design and deliver content that turns complex processes into clear steps. Our programs don’t rely on jargon or assumptions. Instead, we teach with real-life examples, plain language, and actionable strategies that learners can immediately apply in their day-to-day work

How We Make an Impact

How We Make an Impact

We are particularly committed to serving historically underrepresented and underserved groups. As a nonprofit, we prioritize community impact over profit, and we intentionally design resources that are scalable, replicable, and affordable.

Why This Work Matters

When public funds are mismanaged—even unintentionally—the results are far-reaching. Communities lose trust. Projects stall. Grants go unused. Vendors give up. And small organizations miss their shot at sustainable growth.

Public Sector Learning exists to break that cycle. Our training and resources give people clarity instead of confusion, confidence instead of fear, and opportunity instead of exclusion. We are building a culture where ethical stewardship and equitable access are the norm—not the exception.

By strengthening public institutions and increasing access for small businesses and nonprofits, we help communities thrive. We believe that knowledge is power—and that by teaching others how to work with public dollars, we are creating lasting systems of accountability, efficiency, and justice.

Our Guiding Values in Action

Public Sector Learning is driven by the following values, embedded into every program, training,
